Your role as a Pathology Courier

As Pathology Courier you will be responsible for the picking up and transportation of pathology samples, specimens, blood / blood products, X-rays and vaccines. This could be across medical centres, collection centres, nursing homes, hospitals and veterinary surgeries for delivery to laboratories in various locations.

You will be ensuring a safe and efficient process as you manage 30 stops per day, playing a crucial part in providing quality health services to the people in our communities.

Your key responsibilities

  • Pick-up and delivery of pathology samples, specimens, blood / blood products, X-rays, vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers
  • Liaising between referring medical practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer with regard to store orders
  • Preparation and delivery of reports and stock control in main laboratory
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and integrity
  • Following operating procedures to complete correct specimen coding documentation
  • Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Work Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance processes

About you

  • Valid open Australian driver’s license with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to work various shifts including rostered weekends and public holidays
  • Great interpersonal skills to liaise with different stakeholders, plus strong written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills juggling up to 30 stops per day
  • Physical capability to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10–15 kg
  • The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions
  • Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous
  • Hold a Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one
  • You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen or hold a valid visa with permission to work
