Purpose of the Role :
To lead and inspire the packing team to drive performance and meet safety, quality, cost and compliance standards. To drive continuous improvement initiatives, build capabilities and foster a culture of operational excellence.Reporting Line :
Reports to the Operations Executive.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications :
NQF Level 7, Engineering Degree / B-Tech / BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Technical, or Industrial fields.Safety Management Training an advantage (SAMTRAC or equivalent).Skills & Competencies :
Leadership and management skills.Decision-making and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Ability to influence, adapt, and drive operational excellence.Experience :
Minimum 10 years in FMCG or food manufacturing industry.World Class Manufacturing program implementation.Total Productive Maintenance program implementation.At least 5 years in a managerial role.Proven experience in managing packing lines to improve reliability and to reduce process variability.Experience in handling audits and risk and regulatory compliance requirements.Safety management experience preferrable.Maintenance planning experience preferable.Duties & Responsibilities
Foster the ‘living’ of RCL Values and Standards of Leadership in the workplace.Optimise production structures and standardise roles.Establish and enforce manufacturing routines, standards and compliance to quality, food safety, risk and legal requirements.Set performance benchmarks and drive operational effectiveness.Maintain high levels of visibility on the shopfloor and drive a profound and deep understanding of a ‘safety-first’ and a ‘quality-centered’ culture.Use visual performance techniques to steer the team to success.Use process reliability techniques to improve asset reliability.Use problem solving techniques to reduce process variability and waste.Implement continuous improvement techniques in accordance with community of practice directives to reduce and optimise the cost of production.Implement cost control measures.Build manufacturing capabilities through training and development programs.Develop talent pipelines and talent retention strategies.Work with the manufacturing community and conduct benchmarking and sharing of knowledge.Coordinate production efforts with grain handling, milling, supply chain, planning, quality, continuous improvement and engineering teams to ensure seamless operations.Prepare and present operational reports and performance improvement plans to peers and senior management.Production / Manufacturing jobs
