Position Summary : Permanent, market‑related remuneration, open to all. Location : Auckland Park Kingsway Campus.
Job Description : Prospective employees will be assessed in line with the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 and the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The successful candidate will support faculty and department goals, deliver high‑caliber teaching, and produce cutting‑edge research in Private Law.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Private Law (Property Law; Indigenous Law; Law of Succession).
- Supervise postgraduate students’ dissertations and theses.
- Conduct and publish research in accredited journals, book chapters, books and monographs.
- Assume administrative and committee roles within the Faculty of Law and the Department.
- Mentor emerging staff in the Faculty and Department.
- Attract and sustain fundraising initiatives to advance teaching and research scholarship.
- Participate in community engagement initiatives for societal impact.
Minimum Requirements
Doctoral degree in Private Law (Property Law; Indigenous Law; Law of Succession).Minimum 5 years of lecturing experience in Private Law.Strong publication record in reputable journals, book chapters and books.Commitment to research‑led teaching, research and innovation.Sound communication skills in English.Experience supervising postgraduate students to completion.NRF rating and research grant success are advantages, especially for Professorship.Competencies and Behavioural Attributes
Excellent written and verbal English communication.Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills.Good planning, organisational and ICT integration skills.Ability to administer large undergraduate modules.Teamwork, punctuality, and integrity.Knowledge of Private Law sub‑fields and innovative, proactive approach.Recommendations
