Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Asset Manager to take ownership of a national portfolio of solar PV sites. The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience in renewable energy, be confident in engaging with clients, and thrive in a fast pace, data-driven environment. You will be responsible for day-to-day system monitoring, fault resolution, preventative maintenance planning, and ensuring all performance targets and contractual obligations are met. You will also provide mentorship to your peers and more junior teammates.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor daily performance of multiple solar PV systems using proprietary and third-party platforms
- Diagnose and resolve faults; coordinate site interventions in line with SLAs and contract terms
- Review PV system designs and single-line diagrams to ensure compliance and address design-related issues
- Plan and manage preventative maintenance and panel cleaning within budget
- Conduct energy audits and cost‑saving analyses when required
- Produce monthly site performance reports, including loss attributions and variance explanations
- Identify and address recurring underperformance across the portfolio
- Maintain proactive, professional client communication and ensure high service satisfaction
- Oversee site handovers from the Projects Team, ensuring accurate and complete documentation
- Support continuous improvement within the asset management function
- Mentor junior asset managers and contribute to team development
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical fieldExperience
At least 5 years’ experience in solar asset management or O&M, preferably in a commercial or industrial (C&I) contextStrong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, components, and monitoring toolsExperience with PPA‑based billing models and performance reportingFamiliarity with South African electrical standards (e.g. SANS 10142-1)Skills and Competencies
