Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position based in SA Distilleries at the Goudini Distillery. The successful candidate will report to the Distillation Technologist.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to :
- Efficiently operate Copper and Big Pot Stills on a 12-hour shift basis
- Continuously monitor and manage the distillation processes
- Organoleptic evaluation of distillate on a continuous basis to ensure quality product
- Ensure strict loss control on the distillation processes
- Clean, repair and do maintenance on stills and equipment in the stillhouse
- Ensure accurate record keeping of required documentation
- Ensure compliance with OHSAct standards
- Drawing and testing of production tank samples
- Participate in TPM team activities (World-Class Manufacturing)
- Participate in effective problem solving
- Rotate to Fermentation, Brandy or Wine Department during shutdown
- Adhere to general housekeeping and 5S standards
- Ad hoc duties as and when required
The successful candidate must have the following attributes, qualification, skills and experience :
Grade 12 or equivalentA relevant tertiary level qualification will be advantageousRelevant experience in a distillation environment would be highly advantageousA minimum of 3 years general Cellar experienceAbility to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervisionAccuracy and attention to detail orientatedExcellent HealthAbility and willingness to conduct sensory evaluationsComputer literacy (MS Office)Willingness to work irregular hours on a shift basis (evenings and weekends included)Own or access to reliable transportPunctuality and attendance reliabilityThe Company’s approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
