Job Description

We are seeking Data Engineer (Front end Analytics) for a 12 month contract. Provide Technical Expertise to implement front-end analytics through Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and other relevant applications by providing relevant technical expertise. Enable the collection of customer behaviour on digital platforms. Improve the Marketing & Digital Products return-on-investment. Advance the digital marketing & analytics maturity.

The position is onsite in Randburg for a contract period of 12 months.

Key performance objectives

Digital property and marketing tagging, including mobile applications and Data Management Platform (for Media Audience marketplace)
Develop and implement data collection and data analytics processes
Acquire data from 1st, 2nd & 3rd party data sources and maintain databases / data systems
Identify, analyse and interpret trends in complex data sets - understand analytical information needs; proactively lead and identify areas of customer behaviour, and commercial base performance (inflow, base)
Issue reports summarizing the delivery completed in the report format approved and accepted by the Digital Analytics Team
Website Tracking and Marketing Tagging, including Mobile applications
Develop and implement data collection and data analytics processes
Acquire data from 1st, 2nd & 3rd party data sources
Setting up G4 and Universal Analytics, enhance Ecomm
Implementation and orders tracking, data layer implementation, goals, Funnel visualisation
Google Tag manager : events setup, advanced click configurations, data layer implementation
Firebase implementation and App Analytics set up
Set up of data studio dashboards
Supermetrics / API Integration – 3rd party software / tools integration to track all analytics reports in one place.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud – upskilling and entry-level support on SFMC and the integration into the Client digital eco-system
Customisation of reports as per goals and requirements and analysing the data accuracy.
Deficiencies and improvements will be discussed at weekly review, including any corrective actions or opportunities for improvements.

Qualifications : Formal Education

Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Digital Marketing, Statistics, or Information Systems

Relevant short courses / certifications in analytics & marketing technology

Industry Certifications (Highly Recommended)

Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ)

Google Tag Manager Certification (through Google Skillshop)

Google Ads Measurement Certification

Firebase Analytics Training

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist or Administrator

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) & Universal Analytics (advanced configuration, event tracking, goals, funnels, e-commerce tracking)

Firebase (App analytics setup and tracking)

Google Tag Manager (GTM) (events, custom HTML tags, advanced click tracking, data layer implementation)

Google Looker Studio (formerly Data Studio) – creating and customising dashboards

Supermetrics (integrations with marketing and analytics platforms)

API Integration skills (pulling data from multiple sources into a central dashboard)

Marketing & CRM Tools

Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) – entry-level support and campaign analytics integration

Data Management Platforms (DMPs)

Experience with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data acquisition and integration

Knowledge of audience segmentation and marketplace platforms

Data layer design and implementation for websites & mobile apps

E-commerce tracking (transactions, orders, revenue)

Funnel visualisation setup

Cross-domain tracking

Job Description

To provide required support within guidance of set processes and procedures to ensure effective movement, collection, integration, storage and provisioning of data to build solutions and meet business objectives through understanding of business unit requirements and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Produce high quality work by adhering to predefined standards and procedures and in accordance with compliance and governance standards

Work with enhanced processes and procedures to maintain operational efficiencies

Deliver work in an accurate manner to ensure consistent results

Draw on knowledge and experience to identify and develop solutions that leads to improved service delivery and quality

Adhere to quality standards, turnaround times and company policies and procedures

Complete relevant administration, reporting and updating of information accurately and on time

Conduct research on emerging technologies.

Recommend and implement technologies that improve cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.

Confer with end users, clients, or senior management to understand business requirements for complex development or enhancements under guidance

Conduct hands-on work related to profiling, documenting and validating the clients

Execute remediation actions as agreed with client Install or update required system components

Implement the necessary components and frameworks required for automated deployments and task scheduling

Build unit and systems tests to ensure successful delivery of components into production

Create change scripts and sets scripts up to be ready and implemented in production

Utilise various components and tools which make up the data platform for enhanced service delivery

Create requirements and design of the technical architecture, design and development, testing, and deployment of the proposed solution

Under guidance and supervision work with Senior Engineer to present technology solutions to senior leadership and influence architectures that will lead the transformation of the data analytics platform

Learn from the Subject Matter Expert on technical environment or tools for own area of expertise

Provide Analytic infrastructure or big data technologies related support to Data operations and Analytic teams

Grow online technical knowledge platform, identify best practices and develop guidelines for optimum usage of tools

Assist and work on projects to roll out and support to team members

Identify and utilize opportunities to assess and improve own performance

Contribute to teamwork and inclusivity within own team

Experience & Qualification

2-3 years' experience in Data Analytics

Ab Initio experience is beneficial
