Overview

Join this listed FSP as a Quantitative Research Analyst. You will need to support the investment and research team using quantitative research methodologies and tools to review, analyze and improve investment portfolios based on the outcomes and requirements of the mandate and business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Build mathematical, statistical and other (including machine learning based) models to support investment decision making and determine the impact of investment decisions on investment portfolios as well as the business.
  • Identify, understand, quantify and measure the risk associated with the portfolios, asset classes, and markets as it relates to solutions to support and enhance our investment process.
  • Identify risk drivers, and attribute the return on those drivers, to help the portfolio management teams to manage risk to get the highest return given the level of risk.
  • Work with the investment team to use quantitative research to assist with idea generation.
  • Drive the design and implementation of quantitative research projects as part of the Research Hive’s activities.
  • Collaborate with other teams inside the company’s investments business on applied research topics that will lead to enhanced business performance.
  • Understand short- and long-term market factors compared with historical evaluations relative to a market index.
  • Using ongoing quantitative research make recommendations regarding the appropriate improvements on solutions to ensure market dynamics are considered and effectively responded to.
  • Create awareness of the Outcomes Based Investment philosophy across MMH to foster greater understanding and buy-in to this investment philosophy.
  • Foster effective working relationships and collaborate within other colleagues in the company’s investments, the customer segment businesses, and any relevant external stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop independent research techniques and projects to enhance research output.
  • Understand, utilise, create and develop statistical, mathematical and other quantitative tools in order to increase investment insight.

  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to identify changing client needs and make recommendations to align service offering with client needs.
  • Manage a client service excellence culture which builds enduring relationships and allows team to provide exceptional client service.
  • Deliver on agreed deliverables made with clients and stakeholders to ensure that client expectations are managed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Qualifications

  • An appropriate Masters level quantitative degree (e.g. Mathematics, Applied Statistics or Actuarial)
  • A finance or investment related post grad certification / qualification would be advantageous
  • Experience and Knowledge

  • 3+ years of investment management or investment consulting experience would be a strong advantage
  • Experience in relevant quantitative research and analysis. The following would be advantageous (but not necessary) :
  • Applied research experience, preferably in the financial market environment,
  • Experience in publication of peer reviewed journal articles
  • Stakeholder management, analytical, influencing skills.
