About the Role
Senior mechanic provides guidance for the safe installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical control systems, including components of machinery and equipment
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair and service the company fleet of GSE and vehicles, in accordance with the company and Manufacturers’ work specifications.
Timeous creation and accurate completion of all job cards.
Attending to unscheduled breakdowns and repairs with minimum delay.
Carrying out all necessary checks and inspections of all equipment and vehicles, at the required intervals and in accordance with the company quality and standards.
Carrying out scheduled Preventative Maintenance, as instructed, for all equipment and vehicles, in accordance with the company quality and standards and in line with the stipulated intervals as per the
Preventative Maintenance program.
Provide support and guidance to Junior Mechanics and GSE General Workers.
Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment and always observing housekeeping rules.
Conduct ongoing risk assessments on equipment and its operations, as well as ensuring that all safe operating procedures are adhered to.
Able to respond to out of hours urgent calls when required.
Promoting and driving the MORSE ‘Safety First’ culture through all levels of the organization.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Qualified Diesel mechanic with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (with Grade 12).
Trade enrichment skills essential : Welding, Electro Hydraulics, Auto Electrical & Pneumatics.
Knowledge of GSE, Heavy Goods Vehicles and Earth Moving Equipment will be an advantage.
Ability to communicate & develop a good working relationship with various departments, airport authority members and managers at all levels.
A valid code 10 driver’s licence.
Computer literate and competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Have a strong leadership background and problem-solving skills.
