A leading international design and engineering practice is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Structural Engineer to join their Cape Town team. This is a senior leadership opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping iconic, high-complexity projects while guiding a talented engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
Provide expert oversight on the design and analysis of complex structural systems, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance.
Direct and manage the technical execution of large-scale projects, from concept through to construction.
Partner with interdisciplinary teams (architecture, MEP, etc.) to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions.
Champion innovation by introducing advanced technologies, design methodologies, and sustainable materials.
Act as a primary liaison with clients and stakeholders, presenting solutions, addressing challenges, and ensuring satisfaction.
Oversee site-related technical guidance, resolving structural issues and ensuring quality assurance.

Requirements & Skills

Education & Experience : Minimum 10 years experience in structural engineering, including leadership on large-scale and complex projects.

Technical Expertise :

Strong knowledge of building codes and standards ( ACI, AISC, ASCE, and local UAE codes such as Dubai Building Code).

Proficiency in structural analysis / design software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Excel). REVIT exposure beneficial.

Full project cycle experience : concept design, schematic, detailed design, and IFC packages.

Sector Knowledge : Exposure to diverse project typologies including hospitality, residential, cultural, mixed-use, and ideally high-rise developments. UAE project experience advantageous.

Leadership & Communication : Proven ability to lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and engage confidently with clients and stakeholders.

Personal Traits : Analytical mindset, strong organizational ability, adaptability, and collaborative leadership style.
