Job description

What youll be doing

  • Perform quality inspections on products and components according to defined standards and procedures.
  • Document and report inspection results, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and customer experience teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Monitor and inspect engineered (or otherwise procured) parts upon receipt to ensure that they are manufactured within the tolerances and requirements of the detailed manufacturing drawing(s) supplied.
  • Support customer audits and visits by providing inspection data and technical insights.
  • Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Ensuring all measuring equipment are accurate, calibrated and records are kept.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality assurance.
  • Visit, engage and provide feedback to suppliers and manufacturers of parts to ensure deliveries are on-time and within specification
  • Collect documentation, photographic evidence and other material to compile reports and QCP documents.
  • Compile dimensional reports , Quality Control Process (QCP) documents and Certificate of Conformance (COC) including improvement plans with actions and activities for the installation team to remedy quality concerns.
  • Support delivery of products and services by providing assistance when needed
  • Must be able to perform quality checks with third party inspectors from the customer and justify the measurements that was taken at the time.
  • Must be able to approve and sign all documents relevant to the project data pack with the assigned Application Engineer.
  • Perform QA inspections on the TBU line for assemblies and locally manufactured items.
  • Checking and approving project orders arriving at to ensure they are according to the purchase order and project requirements.
  • Occasionally assist with the packaging and execution of Engineering Projects in the workshop.
  • Responsible for continuous communication with the Application Engineer, Workshop and Field technician teams regarding projects under development, delivery progress and quality status
  • Contribute to market intelligence by maintaining and growing a network within the community.
  • Team up with Sales and Application Engineering teams to develop business opportunities, supporting each other and working together to achieve successful and quick results

What youll need

  • A Grade 12 certificate as a minimum requirement
  • Vocational training or trade qualification
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with specific reference to the OSHACT, Mine Health and Safety Act and construction regulation
  • Good computer literacy essential (Office 365)
  • A minimum of 3 years practical experience in the Quality Assurance field.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and quality management systems.
  • Sound knowledge of measuring equipment, how to read the measurements and what equipment to use on the required part or application.
  • A systematic, logical and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to present findings and recommendations to management via reports.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills English.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with customers at all levels.
  • Strong relationships with supply chain up and downstream.
  • Experience in bearings and seals portfolios is an added advantage.
  • Experience with ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Use of proper measuring equipment and tools and understanding measuring principles.

  • High levels of concentration required where the workload will vary every day.
  • Required to be self-motivated and able to make decisions within delegated responsibility.
  • Routinely concentrate for long periods of time to correctly analyse and calculate data / information.
  • Will be expected to react to unpredictable operational requirements of an ad-hoc nature.
  • Frequent domestic and some cross-border travel into sub-Sahara Africa will be required in order to visit and engage with customers on equipment.
  • Will spend time at a desk working on a computer, in the workshop and on site at customers and suppliers taking measurements, performing inspections and recording evidence.
  • Will spend time travelling, mostly driving, sometimes flying to remote customers.
  • Will spend time attending meetings, mostly to provide feedback on activities.
  • Will be required to work outside normal working hours when required.
  • Will be required to operate in-house machinery (Overhead cranes, TBU machinery, workshop machinery) for project execution.
  • Regularly exposed to mitigated and controlled risks like being in the workshop, on site at customers or occasionally whilst travelling.
  • PPE like safety boots, overalls and ear protection are regularly required
