They are a vertical SaaS company revolutionising the art industry. Founded in 1989, they are a market leader in art tech, empowering 5,500+ galleries, dealers and art professionals worldwide to streamline operations, saving time and money. The platform includes a system of record for gallery operations, marketing and sales products, a website-builder tailored to the art world, and a payments solution.

Purpose of role

Our client is seeking a pragmatic, impact-driven Senior Software Engineer to maintain, enhance, and extend our established art gallery management software. You will tackle complex business challenges, working within existing system constraints to deliver meaningful value to our 4,000+ gallery customers worldwide. You will translate operational challenges into practical technical solutions, and contribute to technical strategy by improving system reliability, performance, and user experience. You will lead to ensure delivery of solutions that extend the platform’s capabilities while maintaining stability for a global customer base.

Duties and responsibilities

• Clearly communicate project progress, identify bottlenecks, and surface risks and assumptions to stakeholders.
• Maintain a strategic view of technical roadmaps and business objectives to align engineering with priorities.
• Work effectively with established codebases and legacy systems.
• Prioritize technical work based on customer impact and business value.
• Make or advocate for technical decisions, even with partial data.
• Mentor engineers in practical problem-solving and business-focused development.
• Balance technical debt management with feature delivery to maximize long-term value.
• Collaborate through pair programming as a development approach.
• Learn and adapt to new languages and technologies as the stack evolves.
• Explore and apply emerging AI technologies for practical engineering applications such as debugging, log analysis, refactoring, test case generation, and exploring new use cases.
