Job Purpose
To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include to : teach according to a set syllabus; undertake research and innovation; contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning and develop service learning activities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A Master’s Degree in Communication Studies or closest related qualification relevant to the teaching of Communication Management / Communication Science. (The undergraduate underpinning qualifications must be within the field)
- Two years lecturing experience in higher education.
- Experience in working in strategic / corporate communication management will be an added advantage.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Lecturing subjects within the Media & Communication fieldParticipate in Curriculum development, Courseware development and assessmentPerform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the DepartmentParticipate in the Quality Assurance activities of the DepartmentParticipate in research : managing undergraduate research projectsContribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into the curriculumPromotion of Community Participation and LinkagesDevelop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on cooperative education, new techniques / technologies, and research projectsAttending and contributing to staff meetings, committees, programme design and all academic activitiesAssist with marketing and recruitment activities; contributes to the planning for “Open Day”, Attends Open Day and provides Information on Faculty coursesPersonal / Professional DevelopmentSafety / management : Ensures compliance with safety rulesPerform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of DepartmentGood organizing & planning skillsAdministrative SkillsTechnical / Professional knowledgeInterpersonal SkillsStrong Learner focusAdaptabilityCoaching SkillsContinuous LearningHigh level presentation skillsKnowledge about latest developments in the study of Communication Science and Media StudiesKnowledge and experience in Editorial Management and DesignAbility to work on software such as InDesign and PublisherExcellent reading, writing and speaking skills.Establish networks with practitioners, communities and industry bodiesGood ability and willingness to contribute in a team.Good time management AdaptabilityAbility to manage projects independently.General Information
