QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Educational Background : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT automation, with at least 3 years focused on cloud technologies
  • Certifications (preferred) : Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile working methods

ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Extensive experience infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates)
  • Solid understanding of cloud services and architectures in AWS and Azure
  • Experience with CI / CD tools and methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security controls in cloud environments
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) concepts and tools
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes)

    • ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with database management and automation in cloud environments
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements in the automotive industry and South African data protection regulations
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Understanding of network security concepts and implementation in cloud environments
  • Experience working in a global, multi-cultural team environment
  • Agile development experience (e.g., Scrum)
  • Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring
  • Familiarity with tools like Confluence and Jira
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

    • ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for cloud database services, focusing on integration with Group's existing systems and processes
  • Create and maintain scripts and tools to automate routine tasks, deployments, and configurations across cloud platforms (AWS and Azure)
  • Collaborate with the global security team to implement and automate security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance controls
  • Develop and maintain CI / CD pipelines for database and application deployments in cloud environments
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates
  • Automate monitoring, alerting, and reporting processes for cloud database services
  • Work with the development teams to integrate automated processes into self-service portals
  • Collaborate with Cloud Database Engineers to automate database management tasks, including provisioning, scaling, and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all automation processes and tools
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new automation technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on automation best practices to other team members in the South African hub and globally
  • Ensure that automation solutions comply with local South African regulations and Group's global standards
  • Take responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes on time
  • Work as part of a globally distributed team in fast-paced environments
