Job description

Provider of Specialised Industrial Cleaning Chemical Products has a vacancy for a Sales Representative based in Cape Town to sell chemicals to the Hospitality and Laundry / Food and Beverage industries, exemplify the brand, and grow the branch. The successful candidate will facilitate business development by obtaining new clients and maintaining current client relationships, as well as handle some commercial activities.

Business Development

  • Maintain brand reputation and ethos professionally.
  • Call on an average of ten clients per day; complete and submit weekly call reports to the Sales Manager.
  • Develop a client call planner with a 4-6 week cycle.
  • Monitor sales and gross profit activities.
  • Present and sell company products and services to current and potential clients.
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals.
  • Provide product demonstrations at clients' sites.
  • Upsell and develop new business opportunities within existing clients.
  • Achieve set sales targets.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Complete and discuss written service reports with clients; submit copies to the Sales Manager.
  • Conduct staff training for clients; ensure administrative tasks (training registers, certificates) are completed.
  • Build relationships with key contacts within client portfolios.
  • Provide prompt service and assistance, including deliveries if needed.
  • Advise clients on suitable products and their use.
  • Manage account services through quality checks and follow-ups.
  • Carry out technical installations, repairs, and maintenance as needed.
  • Demonstrate consultative sales approach and provide hands-on service.
  • Offer emergency after-hours service.
  • Build customer relationships through innovative products, demos, and ongoing training.
  • Understand customer operations to provide tailored solutions.
  • Communication and Feedback

  • Participate in all sales meetings.
  • Share information on new products, account developments, and field insights with the Sales Manager.
  • Provide relevant service report data and weekly sales / technical reports.
  • Adhere to data and communication policies, using prescribed templates and meeting deadlines.
  • Administrative Services

  • Assist with debt collection follow-ups.
  • Ensure new clients complete correct application forms.
  • Maintain accurate client contact information.
  • Manage product merchandising and brand image (stickers, wall charts).
  • Provide prompt quotations within 24 hours and follow up.
  • Maintain HSE standards on client sites.
  • Perform stock management and regular stock takes as required.
  • Self-Development

  • Continuously expand product knowledge in chemicals, dosing equipment, and cleaning systems.
  • Stay updated on industry changes.
  • Attend training courses offered by the company.
  • Improve selling skills through self-study.
  • Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar sales environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate level preferred).
  • Excellent selling, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
