Sales Manager – Metering Solutions at Xylem, located in Xylem Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of sales professionals to achieve sales targets for metering solutions.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies that align with industry standards and client needs.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings, review performance data, and collaborate with other departments to address customer needs.
  • Manage sales documentation, provide training and development opportunities for staff, and report on sales performance to senior management.
  • Conduct training sessions for new sales team members and create ongoing training programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, provide feedback and coaching, and address any knowledge or skill gaps.
  • Set and track sales targets and goals for the team; analyze sales data and provide reports to upper management.
  • Ensure excellent customer service, handle escalated complaints, maintain positive relationships with key clients, and implement strategies to improve the customer experience.
  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate with purchasing, implement cost-reduction strategies, conduct regular audits, and maintain accuracy.
  • Mentor junior team members to foster growth and skill development.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align processes and achieve goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in water metering with at least 2 years of people leadership in a similar industry.
  • Experience with utilities and / or municipalities.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data.
  • Proficiency in sales tools and software (e.g., SalesForce, CRM systems, SAP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Knowledge of market research and competitive analysis techniques.
  • Ability to develop and implement sales strategies and plans.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
