Role Description
The Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and performance optimisation of the company’s databases, particularly those supporting Alchemy and the murex pilot. This role ensures data integrity, availability and efficient data flow.
Key Contributions
Database Provisioning Configuration (DBA)
- Set up and configure the Database (e.g. Amazon RDS instance or EC2-based database) for the alchemy pre-production environment.
- Configure database parameters, backups and recovery strategies.
- (if Murex Pilot specific database setup) Support provisioning and configuration for the Murex pilot.
Data Synchronization Migration
Design and implement initial data loading and synchronization / replication strategies from existing Alchemy environments to the AWS database.Ensure data integrity and consistency ensuring transfers.Support data mapping efforts between Alchemy / Company sources and Murex data models.Performance tuning Optimization
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.Optimize queries and database schema for efficiency.Security and access Management
Implement database security best practices (e.g. user roles, encryption, access controls).Manage database user accounts and permissions.Troubleshooting Support
Provide expert level support for database related incidents and problems.Collaborate with application teams to resolve database related issues.Documentation Standards
Document database architecture, configurations and operational procedures.Help define and enforce database standards and best practices for the company.Proven experience (7+ years) as a database Administrator with expertise in relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g. Amazon RDS)Strong proficiency in SQL and database scriptingExperience with database backup, recovery and replication strategiesUnderstanding of database performance tuning and optimisation techniquesFamiliarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processesExperience in a financial services environment is highly desirable
