Job Summary
To develop, institute and maintain an integrated SHEQ management system.
Responsibilities
- Developing an integrated SHEQ management system
- Effectively engaging with department heads in the region for a coherent and adaptable SHEQ system at all levels
- Assist the National SHEQ Manager in developing and maintaining the company’s integrated SHEQ management system, in line with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 accreditations
- Instituting and maintaining a SHEQ management system, in line with ISO-compliant integrated management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001)
- Ensuring all sites are appropriately licensed with the relevant government bodies from national, to provincial and local authorities
- Inspire and track implementation of the company’s SHEQ policy and plan
- Maintain an updated hazard and impact / risk register as part of an integrated HIRA
- Address high-risk areas with management
- Monitoring and tracking of compliance with the SHEQ system, both internally as well as externally concerning our suppliers and contractors
- Identifying non-conformances and actioning appropriate measures to address the issues
- Ensure that all incidents, accidents, near misses and unsafe acts are reported, investigated and preventative actions are implemented
- Monitoring and reporting on SHEQ performance, both internally and externally, with the aim of continual improvement
- Communicate with the applicable authorities where necessary
SHEQ communication and awareness
Communicating with the Managing Director and all department heads, concerning SHEQ managementCommunication and support to management regarding SHEQ policies, continuous improvement plans and proceduresResponsible for environmental as well as other SHEQ awareness modules in employee induction sessionsDaily and monthly tasks / checks
Develop and write SOPs and work instructions when requiredUndertake HIRAs when applicable and record to prevent and mitigate risks as identifiedSHEQ committee meetings : make sure that the highest responsible person per area chairs meetings and act as a co-opted member in all SHEQ meetingsEnsure effective document and data controlSafety files for commercial sites : make sure that all information and documentation is current and relevantConduct client site inspections within the regionMake sure that all IODs and first aid cases are reported and recorded (assist in providing HR with the relevant documentation)Investigate all incidents and accidents and ensure preventative and mitigation measures are implementedConduct internal audits for sites : ensure matters are closed out and communicate effectively with management on the audit findingsEnsure that all legal appointments are signed and currentPlan and assist with emergency evacuation drills and record outcomeRequirements
3-year tertiary qualification or degree, diploma, (NADSAM, NEBOSH or similar)ISO14001, 45001, 9001 qualifications advantageousAuditing and Training qualifications advantageousThorough working knowledge of South African HSE LegislationPrevious experience with environmental permits and licensing advantageousMinimum 3 years working experience in a similar roleHigh proficiency in Microsoft Office is essentialValid code 8 drivers license and own reliable transportMust be well presented and professionalEmployment will be implemented in accordance with the Employment Equity Act.
