Job descriptionDiagnosis : Identifying the cause of vehicle problems, using diagnostic tools and their mechanical knowledge. Repair & Maintenance : Fixing or replacing faulty parts, performing routine maintenance like oil changes, and ensuring vehicles meet safety standards. Overhauls : Disassembling and rebuilding engines, transmissions, or other major vehicle components. Inspections : Conducting thorough vehicle inspections to identify potential issues and ensure roadworthiness. Record Keeping : Maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repairs performed. Customer Communication : Explaining repair needs and costs to customers. Equipment Maintenance : Ensuring tools and equipment are in good working order.
Specific Tasks :
- Engine Work : Diagnosing and repairing engine issues, performing tune-ups, and replacing parts like spark plugs and timing belts.
- Brake System : Inspecting, repairing, and replacing brake components.
- Electrical Systems : Troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems, including lighting, starters, and charging systems.
- Suspension & Steering : Inspecting and repairing suspension and steering components.
- Tire and Wheel Work : Checking tire pressure, balancing wheels, and performing alignments.
- Specialized Areas : Some mechanics specialize in areas like air conditioning, hybrid or electric vehicle systems, or specific types of vehicles.
Training Facilitation : Facilitating Motor Mechanic training sessions in various formats including but not limited to workplace, classroom, virtual.
