Qualified Diesel Mechanic

An exciting opportunity exists for a Qualified Diesel Mechanic who has the attributes to lead and manage a maintenance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for all Mechanical Maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Regular inspections on equipment to identify hazards, defects or need for repair.
• Complete equipment check sheets as per manufacturer's requirements.
• Capacity to take initiative on all projects.
• Complete projects in the expected time frame.
• Making schedules, assigning work, and training employees.
• Motivate employees to increase their productivity and meet work goals.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes, and adherence to safety regulations.
• Responsible for mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and services as required.
• Design mechanical systems and equipment, as well as contribute to improved designs and manufacturing processes.
• Report any incidents to the maintenance manager.
• Attend to breakdowns.
• Ensure adequate inventory, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates, and document purchases.
• Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools in a factory environment.
• Grade 12.
• 3-5 years’ experience working as a qualified artisan.
• Management / Supervisory experience.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• Own transport.
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and related universal best practices.
• Knowledge of legislative and industry protocols and regulations that apply in maintenance.
