Duties & Responsibilities
- On-Site Service and repairs to all makes of Beams, electric overhead cranes, electric rope hoists, electric chain hoists, mechanical chain-blocks, and lever blocks. Including Ancillary Equipment like Festoon Systems, Supply Systems, Safety Systems etc.
- Installation, testing and calibration of load limiting devices.
- In House Strip and Quotes to electric overhead cranes, electric rope hoists, electric chain hoists, air hoists, mechanical chain-blocks, lever hoists, shackles, slings, eye bolts, lifting tackle and engine kits for aircraft use. Including Ancillary Equipment like Festoon Systems, Supply Systems, Safety Systems etc.
- In House Proof Load Testing to Beams, electric overhead travelling cranes, electric rope hoists and chain hoists on all lifting equipment as prescribed by the OHSA.
- Modifications to upgrade electrical and mechanical units.
- Rigging, dismantling and moving of machinery and equipment.
- Attend to breakdowns.
- Client Liaison, administration, and correspondence.
- Proven experience in conducting inspections and testing of lifting equipment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ASME) governing the design, operation, and maintenance of lifting machinery.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools, instruments, and software for assessing the condition and performance of lifting equipment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Perform inspections of lifting machinery and equipment according to established standards, regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct visual and functional checks of cranes, hoists, slings, chains, hooks, and other lifting accessories to identify defects, wear, or damage.
- Utilize testing equipment such as load cells, dynamometers, and non-destructive testing methods to assess the structural integrity and load-bearing capacity of lifting equipment.
- Review maintenance records, logbooks, and service reports to ensure compliance with inspection schedules and maintenance procedures.
- Document inspection findings, including any deficiencies or non-compliance issues, and prepare detailed inspection reports for clients or regulatory authorities.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to clients regarding the safe operation, maintenance, and use of lifting equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess equipment modifications or upgrades to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Stay updated on relevant industry regulations, standards, and technological advancements in lifting equipment to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and incident investigations to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Maintain professional certifications and licenses required for performing lifting machinery inspections.
