Overview

Lead Canonical's effort to make Ubuntu fit for applications in automotive, aerospace, industrial robotics and other highly regulated environments. Transform complex regulatory and certification demands into concrete engineering outcomes and into engineering excellence values and practices across multiple projects and teams. Define and implement continuous improvement processes, qualification requirements, and methods to measure quality, shaping Canonical's ways of working and engineering culture. Establish strategic relations with external working groups, committees and partners as part of Canonical\'s industrial standards efforts.

Location : This role may be held anywhere in European, Middle Eastern, African or Americas regions or time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the effort to align engineering processes with regulatory, compliance and certification requirements for mission-critical systems.
  • Transform complex demands into concrete outcomes and instill engineering excellence values and practices across the organization.
  • Challen ge engineering culture by leading across teams to bring practices to life at every level of engineering.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to describe and implement continuous improvement processes and establish qualification requirements supporting engineering quality standards.
  • Define methods and metrics to measure quality and use them to shape and sharpen engineering culture.
  • Establish strategic relations with external groups, committees and partners.
  • Work with Canonical\'s industrial standards team and company-wide leadership to deliver the vision.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge or certification of quality standards for software artifacts (e.g., ISO / IEC 25010 or ASPICE).
  • Proven track record in developing and growing people and teams.
  • Experience leading compliance and certification efforts, with understanding of process and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Background as a software developer (beneficial).
  • Experience establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
