Job descriptionA minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in commodity trading within a physically traded product. A proven track record of profitability and self-managed trading portfolios. Well-established relationships within the commodity trading space. An excellent network and extensive contacts within the industry. A relevant post-graduate qualification would be advantageous, but not essential. Exceptional negotiation skills to drive favourable outcomes. Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple trading activities simultaneously. Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to solve problems in a creative and strategic manner. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and foster strong relationships. Proficiency in multiple languages would be a valuable asset. In-depth knowledge of the South African market and agricultural trading industry.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short-term trading strategies across South Africa, focusing on identifying profitable opportunities while effectively managing risk exposure.
- Conduct thorough and insightful analysis of market trends, pricing dynamics, and emerging developments to inform trading decisions and provide regular market commentary to senior management.
- Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and market developments within the agricultural trading industry, ensuring compliance and maintaining a strong network of industry contacts.
- Collaborate closely with fellow traders and risk management teams to develop and implement effective trading strategies that align with market conditions and company objectives.
- Actively monitor and assess market conditions, adjusting trading strategies as needed to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize trading portfolios to drive profitability and achieve desired financial targets.
- Leverage expertise in the South African market to identify and capitalize on unique trading opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiencies and streamline trading processes.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on trading activities, performance, and market trends to senior management and stakeholders.
