This is a search‑focused SEO operation looking to expand its content team by recruiting an experienced SEO content writer passionate about high‑quality content optimized for search engines and valuable to end‑users.

You will write for clients across eCommerce, SaaS, and local lead generation industries, balancing new content creation and ongoing optimization of existing material while also proofreading and editing teammates’ work.

Responsibilities

  • Produce engaging long‑form content and metadata optimized for SEO and User Experience (UX). Primarily eCommerce category & product pages and blog content.
  • Research and plan each content piece. Given a Surfer SEO brief and client guidelines, conduct topic research, structure and creative direction.
  • Proofread and edit. Ensure quality control before submitting to the Senior Editor.
  • Accept feedback. Improve writing and meet client brand requirements and marketing goals.
  • Manage workflow in Trello. Communicate with the team, resolve issues, and meet deadlines.
  • Continuously improve SEO knowledge and understanding of each client’s industry and audience.
  • Work as part of a team, maintaining quality standards while owning your role.
  • Handle multiple briefs and tasks simultaneously, prioritizing by due date.

Requirements

  • English speaker with strong linguistic abilities.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a portfolio of written content.
  • At least 2 years of professional writing experience.
  • Passion for search‑engine optimisation (SEO).
  • Understanding of eCommerce content.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and follow briefs to a T.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Receptive to feedback.

    • Advantageous

  • Experience with Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce or other eCommerce platforms.

    • Logistics

  • Salary : ZAR 18,000–20,000 depending on experience.
  • Sub‑contractor with 10 days annual leave.
  • Fully remote – based anywhere in Cape Town.
  • Permanent, 40 hours per week.
  • Report to the Director; work alongside copywriters and editors.
