Assistant Despatch Manager

Job descriptionThe Assistant Despatch Manager’s primary function is to provide professional, efficient and accurate service by supporting the daily dispatch operations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and safe movement of all materials, while maintaining documentation and assisting with team supervision and compliance efforts, ensure quality is according to the correct standards as well as ensuring that all health and safety measures are adhered to. Despatch Coordination Documentation and Compliance Team Supervision Stock and Load management Fleet Coordination Safety and Yard Cleanliness Reporting Testing and ensuring that all metal that is purchased and dispatched is radiation free. Adhere to health and Safety regulations for department and staff. Inspect operators / drivers’ machines daily. Ensure that loading instruction are followed correctly and liaise with dispatch manager, operations manager and divisional director to confirm all instructions. Ensure all instructions on loading checklist are done accurately. Confirm loading instructions received and indicate what commodity to load. Work according to planned schedule and follow instructions. Attend meetings (Safety & Production). Facilitate Health & Safety Toolbox Talks. Adhere to Health & Safety Regulations. Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent. A minimum of between 2-5 years’ experience in a production industry. Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory position. Logistic experience. Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook). Problem-solving skills. Multi-tasking skills. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize available resources. Excellent knowledge of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals. Knowledge of Company Rules & Regulations. Knowledge of production planning and goal setting. Good knowledge of H&S regulations. Flexible and willing to work overtime. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Hardworking and Self-motivated. Inherent willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures. Trustworthiness and honesty. Being able to work under pressure. Good communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills. Professional work approach. Ability to work independently and within a team. Not easily influenced negatively. Not easily intimidated. Ability to motivate people. Good Customer relations. Logical and detail orientated methodologies. Excellent standards in execution. Communication to strong business ethic and integrity. Willing to learn and carry out instructions.
