General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Claims Administrator in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.
Key Responsibilities
The position reports to the Claims Manager for the Life & Health Claims Team in South Africa as well as a dotted line to the Claims Manager in Australia. The Claims Administrator will be responsible for the claims administration of South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and Australia. The role entails :
Administration of linking policies and benefits to claims
Working with the Claims and Data teams on various claims-related items
Monitoring mailboxes for incoming claims and liaising with clients to ensure timely receipt
Responsible for initiating the claim assessment process
Assisting with the preparation of claims
Managing the outstanding claims process and claims review process
Working with the Valuation, Claims, and Data teams on reporting and reconciliations
Supporting the Gen Re Claims and Data teams with various projects, e.g., support on client audits
Qualifications & Experience
A recent graduate or currently studying part-time (preferably in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field)
Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and influence at all organizational levels
Understanding of simple accounting principles and processes
Ability to produce quality work in a timely manner
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work in challenging situations with an ability to multi-task, be flexible, adaptable, and a self-starter
Strong attention to detail
Highly developed interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Solid software skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Fluent in English; a second language would be advantageous
Eagerness to learn and grow within a corporate environment
