Claims Administrator

in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

Key Responsibilities

The position reports to the Claims Manager for the Life & Health Claims Team in South Africa as well as a dotted line to the Claims Manager in Australia.

The Claims Administrator will be responsible for the claims administration of South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and Australia.

  • Administration of linking policies and benefits to claims
  • Working with the Claims and Data teams on various claims-related items
  • Monitoring mailboxes for incoming claims and liaising with clients to ensure timely receipt
  • Responsible for initiating the claim assessment process
  • Assisting with the preparation of claims
  • Managing the outstanding claims process and claims review process
  • Working with the Valuation, Claims, and Data teams on reporting and reconciliations
  • Supporting the Gen Re Claims and Data teams with various projects, e.g., support on client audits

Qualifications & Experience

  • A recent graduate or currently studying part-time (preferably in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and influence at all organizational levels
  • Understanding of simple accounting principles and processes
  • Ability to produce quality work in a timely manner
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in challenging situations with an ability to multi-task, be flexible, adaptable, and a self-starter
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Solid software skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fluent in English; a second language would be advantageous
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a corporate environment
