What We’re Looking For :

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant is responsible for the accurate allocation of student payments, reconciliation of debtor accounts, and providing support to internal teams regarding student‑related finance queries. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of the debtors ledger, particularly during month‑end processes, which include reconciling accounts, processing month‑end adjustments, and ensuring all debtor accounts are up to date and accurate.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To :

Cash Application and Reconciliation :

  • Accurate allocation and reconciliation of student payments, including importing and posting bank transactions, reconciling cash accounts, and clearing all relevant process screens.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in customer accounts.

Month‑End Close Activities :

  • Prepare and process account fixes.
  • Ensure student accounts are reconciled and cleared.
  • Accounts receivable completeness checks.
  • Assist with provisions calculations and journals at month end.
  • Reporting and Analysis :

  • Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing month‑end and year‑end reports and schedules for management review.
  • Cash updates as needed.
  • Compliance and Process Improvement :

  • Support audits by providing accounts receivable documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements.
  • Cross‑Functional Support :

    Respond to VAT related student queries and collaborate with student advisors to ensure finance related queries are resolved.

    Adhoc :

  • Training and mentoring of new team members.
  • Assisting with special projects or analysis requests as needed.
  • Things That Should Be In Your Background :

  • Studied or studying towards an Accounting / Finance diploma or degree (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with ERP / Accounting software.
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Working Conditions :
