Well established company based in Zwelitsha are looking for a dynamic and experienced applicant to join their team.
The Fruit and Veg Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fruit and vegetable department. This includes managing inventory, ensuring the quality of produce, coordinating with suppliers, and leading a team to deliver excellent customer service. The goal is to maximize sales, ensure freshness and maintain an attractive and organized department.
Key Responsibilities :
Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure optimal inventory
Order and replenish stock based on sales trends and seasonal availabilityTrack and manage spoilage, waste, and shrinkageQuality Control :Ensure that all fruits and vegetables meet quality standards
Regularly inspect produce for freshness, ripeness and overall qualityImplement and enforce proper handling and storage practices to maintain product qualityVendor Coordination :Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effectivenessStay informed about market trends and seasonal variations in produceTeam Leadership :Hire, train and supervise department staff
Schedule shifts and manage staff performanceFoster a positive work environment and promote teamworkSales and Customer Service :Develop and implement sales strategies to boost department performance
Address customer inquiries, feedback and complaints in a professional mannerEnsure that produce displays are attractive and effectively marketedCompliance and Safety :Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and store policies
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the departmentConduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to standardsReporting and Administration :Prepare and analyse reports on sales, inventory and performance metrics
Assist in budget planning and cost controlHandle administrative tasks such as ordering, receiving and documenting inventoryQualifications :
Education : Grade 12 or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, retail management or a related field preferredExperience : Previous experience in retail management, particularly in fresh produce, is highly desirableSkills : Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent customer service abilities and proficiency in inventory management systemsKnowledge : Understanding of produce quality standards, supply chain processes and market trendsPhysical Requirements :
