ENGINEERING MAINTENANCE MANAGER (WATER SECTOR - SOUTH AFRICAJob DescriptionWe are looking for a dynamic and organized Mechanical or Electrical Engineer – with great knowledge of SCADA & PLC’s, a background performing maintenance of mechanical & electrical equipment (ideally in the municipal water sector), experience with computerised maintenance management systems (PlantMan / CMMS / Pragma, INFOR EAM), and the ability to make sound judgements & decisions when dealing with complex issues in pressurised situations - to take on the Key Role of MAINTENANCE MANAGER.The position will report to the Operations Manager – and will be tasked with the planning & management of work to ensure that various plants are maintained to Company & Statutory standards – and that all duties are carried out to meet operational & asset management requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES : Planning & management of all preventative / planned maintenance tasks, replacement installation tasks, refurbishment tasks, corrosion prevention, repairs, and maintenance budgets – as well as emergency & breakdown repairs and maintenance – whilst ensuring the correct usage of all electrical equipment & assetsPreparation of the annual maintenance plan & budgets for the various plants to ensure that cost, engineering targets, as well as regulatory and company standards are achieved.Effective & Motivational leadership (incl training of staff as required) – ensuring that teamwork, morale and discipline is maintained within the various teams – by setting objectives, monitoring performance, and supplying regular feedback.Manage all contractors required to work on the network for this area of responsibility.Direct routine and special maintenance interventions on all plant, machinery and ancillary equipment at the treatment plants.Assist with the shutdown and start up procedures for all plants, and the commissioning of new or modified plantsEnsure that all work is performed in a safe manner - in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. GMR 2.1Assist with any new plant installations and manage defects period during project phase in collaboration with project managersEnsure all plant maintenance and lock out requirements are reported to the Plant Superintendent or Senior Operators on the plant. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCE : B.Eng or B.Tech (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)More than 10 years of experience in the maintenance of mechanical & electrical equipment (preferably in the municipal water sector)Must have : Ability to make sound decisions to complex issues whilst working under pressureMust be : Available to participate in a Duty Functional standby rosterMust have : Knowledge of SCADA, PLC’s, compressors, telemetry pumps, motors, vessels, filters, valves, drives etc.Experience with computerised maintenance management systems such as CMMS, PlantMan, Pragma, INFOR EAM.Must have : Valid code 08 drivers licence.SkillsMechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Maintenance Manager, SCADA, PLC, Municipal Water Sector
