As a Tax Compliance Consultant, you will provide tax compliance services to PwC’s clients, completing all tasks efficiently, professionally, and on time to deliver high‑quality service.
Qualifications / Certifications required
- Relevant South African degree or diploma with Taxation as a core module
- Registered Tax Technician or Tax Professional (SAIT)
Experience required
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in tax compliance and tax administration, including 3 years’ experience in company tax compliance.
Responsibilities
Tax compliance work specifically for companiesAdministration of provisional and final income tax returns and other SARS‑related returns (companies, trusts, individuals, PBOs)Maintenance of tax clients on tax management software (GreatSoft) and SARS eFilingCompletion and review of income tax returns and assessments on eFiling, managing all SARS correspondenceLiaison with SARS, clients, and staff regarding assessments, objections, disputes, refunds, queries, registrations and deregistrationsFollow up on outstanding SARS mattersMeet with SARS on behalf of clients and PwCEnsure clients’ tax compliance affairs are updated and SARS deadlines met, delivering quality servicesComplete and submit VDP applicationsApprove International Transfers (AIT) and tax compliance status requestsRespond to SARS verification queriesConsult clients and PwC staff on tax compliance and administration mattersSupport tax compliance co‑team members and managerAdhere to internal risk management proceduresPerform general administrative tasksAttend internal and external training and comply with annual CPD requirementsSkill sets required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail‑oriented, accurate, organized, capable of independent work in a team environmentStrong multitasking skills and proactive attitude toward tasks and deadlinesSound computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.) and administrative skillsExperience with GreatSoft or a similar tax database package advantageousKnowledge of the South African Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act; experience with SARS and eFilingRegistered tax practitioner or willingness to register as a tax practitionerFluency in English and AfrikaansPrepared to work overtime if requiredValid driver’s licence and own transportIndependence requirements to be considered
