Junior Buyer / Sourcing Assistant – Plant Procurement (Mid Entry )

Job descriptionEmergency or breakdown-related parts from nearby vendors. Collect purchase requests and specifications from maintenance, production, and admin teams. Source quotes from approved or local suppliers and help negotiate prices. Raise purchase requisitions and submit for approvals in accordance with company policy. Track deliveries, manage petty cash (if applicable), and ensure items reach the requesting department. Maintain proper records of purchases, invoices, and delivery notes. Coordinate with the storekeeper and report stock shortages of recurring sundries. Perform occasional site visits to local suppliers or service providers. Assist the plant manager or procurement officer with any ad-hoc sourcing tasks. Matric or NQF Level 4 (Higher Certificate or Diploma in Procurement / Logistics is a plus). 5- 6 years of experience in plant-level purchasing or administration in a manufacturing / industrial setting. Must be able to communicate in English and at least one local language. Strong organizational skills and a sense of urgency in task completion. Valid driver’s license and ability to visit nearby vendors (advantageous). Basic knowledge of MS Excel and / or purchasing software is desirable.
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Junior Buyer / Sourcing Assistant to support daily plant operations by managing local and urgent purchases. This hands-on, factory-floor-facing role involves sourcing consumables, tools, spare parts, and services—ideal for a junior candidate starting a career in procurement or operations.
Key Responsibilities :

General tools, cleaning items, lubricants, PPE, basic spares, stationery, etc.
