Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping functions, including data entry and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage the full processing cycle up to trial balance.
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records for multiple clients or business units.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and supplier accounts and review supporting reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly cash‑flow statements and monitor day‑to‑day cash flow.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and related tax reporting.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external financial queries.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions and value creation.
  • Adapt to changing workload, taking on additional clients or departments as required.
  • Use accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho) to maintain ledgers and generate reports.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Support month‑end closings, journal entries, and audit preparations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or related field (e.g., NDiP, BCom).
  • Proficiency in Xero and other bookkeeping software; QuickBooks or Sage experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, trial balance, and financial statements.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Prior experience in construction, property development, or non‑profit sectors is advantageous.
  • Experience managing multi‑entity financials and multiple currencies is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional accounting certifications (e.g., AAT, SAIPA, ACCA).
  • Knowledge of VAT, PAYE, and relevant South African tax legislation.
  • Experience with advanced reporting and budgeting in accounting packages.
  • Background in audit support and financial controls.
  • Salary & Benefits

  • Annual salary range typically between R240 000 and R450 000 (variable by experience and industry).
  • Opportunity for progression to senior bookkeeper, accountant, or finance manager roles.
  • Work arrangement ranges from full‑time office‑based to hybrid or remote, depending on client.
