Purpose Of The Role

The DC Facility Manager will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and overall management of the Distribution Centre facility. This includes ensuring the site is safe, secure, efficient, and compliant with regulatory and operational standards. Responsibilities include managing critical systems, coordinating safety and security operations, optimizing space usage, and ensuring smooth facility operations.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • DC Maintenance & Facility Management : Manage upkeep of critical systems (generators, firefighting equipment, roller doors, dock levelers, plumbing, electric fences, cameras, DC fleet). Ensure infrastructure (warehouse barriers, racking, A / C units, and other facilities) is well-maintained. Conduct regular inspections, prioritise issues, and implement cost-effective solutions. Oversee space planning and optimization.
  • Safety & Security Management : Oversee safety and security protocols to protect warehouse, assets, and staff. Monitor CCTV, investigate incidents, and manage suspicious behavior reports. Collaborate with security teams, report incidents, and compile regular reports. Ensure compliance with OHS standards and coordinate crisis management when necessary.
  • Vendor & Budget Management : Manage relationships with external contractors and vendors; negotiate contracts and manage budgets related to facility maintenance and operations.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management : Ensure efficient management of maintenance costs and facility expenses. Develop and monitor budgets, track spending, identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • People & Training : Lead and develop maintenance and security teams; ensure continuous training on maintenance, safety, and security best practices.
  • Qualifications : Grade 12; 3 year degree in facilities management, Industrial Engineering or related field; 3-5 years relevant experience in distribution / logistics; strong knowledge of safety regulations and building / maintenance costs; proven budget management and vendor negotiation; excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
