AECI Plant Health is seeking a dedicated Plant Operator to join our team in Somerset West. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing batches of products that meet our quality and compliance standards, while ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify work orders and confirm receipt of correct raw materials.
- Safely store raw materials and finished goods in designated areas.
- Maintain safe stacking and racking practices to prevent cross-contamination.
- Conduct weekly inspections to ensure safe storage conditions and pallet integrity.
- Coordinate production schedules with planning and materials teams.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate machinery following SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Measure, grade, and feed raw materials into machines.
- Monitor processes, perform quality control checks, and inspect finished goods.
- Report non-conformances and uphold strict hygiene and housekeeping standards.
- Maintain and clean machinery and production equipment.
- Report breakdowns and assist with repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Safely load and unload products using forklifts or pallet stackers.
- Complete daily equipment checklists and assist with stock counts.
- Support stock management, budgeting, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Provide relief support to the Production Team Leader when required.
- Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
- Attend production meetings and retrain on SOPs as per schedule.
- Grade 12 (Matric) – Chemical plant or technical stream preferred.
- Diploma or Certificate in a relevant field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 1 year of production experience in a plant environment.
- Valid forklift and pallet stacker operator’s license.
- Must be medically fit for operating machinery.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Measuring, grading, and feeding batches or raw materials into machines / hoppers.
- Sound knowledge of warehouse practices, racking, and stacking.
- Quality control and compliance with OHSA regulations.
