Incomar is looking for a motivated individual to perform detailed design and development of flight computer hardware with platform level avionics design and integration into an unmanned aerial vehicle. The role includes electronic hardware & PCB design, electrical design, hardware testing, verification, validation and qualification for flight computer hardware and avionics electrical design, component research, avionics component integration, testing and validation for various platforms.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a relevant related tertiary qualification.Required Skills and Experience
5-10+ years of electronic hardware development experience (preferably in an airborne electronics environment).Electronic hardware design & development skills.In-depth knowledge and experience in high-speed digital PCB design.Hardware testing, debugging and qualification skills (functional & environmental).System & hardware integration engineering skills.Product development and system engineering skills involving all aspects of the "V" life cycle and the system engineering management process.Proficient in requirements management (experience with Cradle / Jama / Doors preferable, but not mandatory).Configuration and product lifecycle management skills.Knowledge of applicable standards related to your technical field (e.g. MIL-STDs, RTCA & IPC standards).Proficient in required design & simulation packages (e.g. Altium, Solidworks Electrical, Ansys SIwave or Hyperlynx, MATLAB, LT-SPICE, MS-Visio).Proficient in MS Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams).Proficient in PDF tools used during review & sign off activities.Preferred Skills and Experience
Military, Defence Industry and / or Avionics development experience preferable.Experienced in PCB development using Altium Designer.High-speed PCB simulation.Knowledge or experience in the RTCA DO-254 design process.Knowledge or experience in hardware environmental qualification to military and civilian standards (RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, etc).Experience in electronic thermal management & simulation.Experience in avionics LRU design & development.Knowledge or experience in firmware development (using VHDL & Xilinx devices).System safety engineering skills.Logistical support engineering skills.Exposure to software version control tools.Experience in project / team management is preferable.Job Description
Perform detailed design, development and integration applicable to the allocated project, including :Circuit design.
Avionics equipment research and component selection.Wiring & avionics layout & harness design.Mechanical, thermal & interface considerations.Schematic capture & PCB layout.Simulation & analysis (thermal, signal integrity, reliability & loads).Prototyping, testing & qualification (functional and environmental).Flight computer hardware and avionics component integration.Generation of design & interface documentation.Ensuring design compliance against requirements and applicable standards.Delivering reliable, efficient, and cost-effective electrical & electronic designs that meet system-level safety, regulatory, operational & performance requirements.Responsibilities
Perform allocated engineering tasks and design work within your expertise and skillset.Conduct hardware development according to the "V" product development life cycle and system engineering management process.Perform hardware item design activities, including electrical, electronic, mechanical and thermal design aspects.Perform electrical wiring designs for electrical systems & sub-systems.Perform electrical load analysis for electrical systems & sub-systems.Write and maintain specifications related to electrical / electronic / sub-system development activities.Write and maintain electrical / electronic / sub-system test and verification documentation.Write and maintain system and sub-system hardware interface documentation.Perform, execute and document electrical / electronic / sub-system compliance, verification, validation and qualification activities.Configuration and version management of electrical / electronic system, sub-system and item designs.Simulation, data analysis and report writing applicable to allocated tasks.Ensure stakeholder requirements are met.Ensure compliance to applicable regulatory and safety requirements.Assist with cost and time estimates for engineering tasks / projects.Plan and execute tasks within agreed budgets and timescales.Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity when handling company and customer data and documentation.Work in accordance with engineering and other company processes applicable to your role.Contribute towards the improvement and elaboration of hardware design and development processes & tools.Ensure all non-compliances on both safety and quality issues within your area of responsibility are identified and reported timeously.Apply sound ethical principles.Guide and mentor more junior engineers.Only applications made via BambooHR will be accepted.
