Job description

Our client is looking for a a Aircraft Simulator Technician. They are based in the East Rand close to the Airport and ideally require the successful applicant to start in January 2026.

Role Description

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on the simulators and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and correcting problems on the simulators and related systems.
  • Utilize Maintenance Management System to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Actively pursue continued professional growth and training.
  • Perform pre-flight on all simulators.
  • Perform visual alignments.
  • Run QTGs (Qualification Test Guide).
  • Perform refurbishment, modifications, design changes, and software enhancements.
  • Perform software changes to correct problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Comply with Regulatory Quality Management System.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing / validation.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.
  • Flexibility to work the required shifts.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Automation Systems, including PLC programming.
  • Knowledge in Electrical Systems, including troubleshooting and repairs
  • Mechanical Skills for maintaining and repairing simulator hardware
  • Computer Skills, including familiarity with operating systems and software related to automation systems(Linux / Unix is a plus)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Relevant certifications or diplomas in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related fields
  • Experience in the aviation industry is a plus

    At least 5 years on industrial automation maintenance experience, including :

  • Network systems
  • Computers
  • Operational systems (Windows, Linux / Unix)
  • Electrical Systems (Circuit breaks, Motors, contactors…)
  • Electronic systems (sensors, relays, actuators…)
  • Electronic troubleshooting to component level
  • Hydraulic systems (position sensors, servo valves, load cells, actuators, pumps…)
