With a reputation for innovation, sustainability, and delivering high-quality products to the civil engineering, construction, and retail sectors, they are expanding operations and seeking a dynamic commercial leader to shape their growth strategy and market presence.

Role Overview

As Commercial Manager , you will oversee all commercial operations. This includes managing sales performance, driving revenue growth, and strengthening client relationships. Reporting directly to the Director, youll lead a team, influence strategic decision-making, and ensure operational and financial success in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead commercial strategies for aggregates sales, including pricing, tenders, and contract negotiations.
  • Manage and mentor a high-performance sales and commercial team.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships in construction, civils, retail, and infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for expansion (focus on the Eastern Cape region).
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and commercial reporting for the division.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and sustainability objectives.
  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to optimize delivery, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Drive innovation in product offerings (e.g., bricks, readymix solutions) to meet evolving customer demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Management, or related field (advanced qualifications such as Stellenbosch Business School highly advantageous).
  • 7+ years experience in commercial management within aggregates, mining, or construction materials.
  • Strong track record in sales management, client engagement, and strategic growth.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and CRM systems.
  • Commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.
  • Willingness to travel within the region as required.
