Job Overview :
- The Supply Chain Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing supply chain operations during assigned shifts. This role ensures that warehouse, transport, and inventory activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. The Shift Supervisor leads a team of employees, coordinates resources, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and drives performance to meet operational targets. Reports to the CDC Operations Manager.
Minimum requirements :
Diploma in Logistics / Warehousing / Supply Chain or related fields (NQF 6) is preferredMust have a minimum of a Certificate in Logistics / Warehousing / Supply Chain or related fields (NQF 5)3 +years’ experience in Logistics / Warehousing / Supply Chain operationsMain Responsibilities :
Shift Operations Management :
Supervise shift activities including receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returnsAllocate manpower and equipment to meet workload demandsMonitor shift schedules and manage attendanceEnforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistency and complianceReceiving to be verified and Captured on SAPDaily checks are carried out to ensure voltage, cleanliness and presentation of products are acceptablePerform daily cycle countsSupport on monthly stocktakesProcess SAV to seconds for damages or double code batteriesIdentify and escalate slow moving / obsolete stock on the floorManages the labelling process to minimise mistakesEnsure all picking is scannedEnsure daily dispatch according to delivery schedule and load reportSupport both local, SDA’s and exports dispatch and collectionsSupervise & assist with the debriefing of all returning vehicles ensuring timeous and accurate offloading of vehiclesEnsures daily rotationsEnsure that scrap to Fry’s is loaded timeouslyPlan daily activities and workloads to ensure efficient workflowCoordinate with other supervisors or managers to manage shifts, schedules, and employee rotationsEnsure proper handover between shifts, communicating any important information or issues to the next shift supervisorInventory Control & Accuracy :
Oversee cycle counts and stock reconciliationsInvestigate and resolve stock discrepanciesMonitor stock handling processes to prevent losses and damagesCollaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to maintain optimal stock levelsAssist in cycle counting, stocktaking, and maintaining records of inventory movementsContinuous Improvement & Problem Solving :
Analyse shift performance data and identify bottlenecksRecommend and implement process changesLead small improvement projects (e.g., Lean / 5S initiatives)Escalate recurring issues to management with solutionsCommunication, Admin & Reporting
Conduct shift handover reports and meetingsPrepare daily performance and exception reportsMaintain clear communication between shifts, departments, and stakeholdersEscalate urgent operational issues to managementCheck and sign off on all dispatch records (picking, scanning, labelling, qty count and load report)Daily recording, sign off and submitting of all shift’s reportsUpdate daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s tracking reports to show progressMaintain accurate records of daily activities, including shift reports, attendance, productivity metrics, and incidentsProvide regular reports to warehouse managers or senior management on shift performance, challenges, and achievementsEnsure that warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems, is in good working conditionPeople Management :
