Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to the business on the strategic direction of fleet, tyres, maintenance, and workshops.
- Implement continuous improvement in safety and leverage digitisation and technology to support group initiatives.
- Manage corporate governance compliance policies to mitigate risk liabilities.
- Analyse, interpret and produce detailed reports on trends, discrepancies and performance metrics.
- Develop initiatives to enhance customer service excellence.
- Develop and implement a medium‑term technical strategy for fleet depreciation, replacement and disposal, reducing the carbon footprint and total cost of ownership.
- Optimise group maintenance and workshops to stay competitive and aligned with global trends.
- Engage suppliers and original equipment manufacturers on technical matters, including performance, warranties and recalls.
- Manage supplier SLA and KPI performance targets, conduct monthly reviews and annual negotiations.
- Maintain supplier relationships and promote reciprocal opportunities.
- Attend the Group Technical Steering Committee, develop relevant KPIs and present actionable insights.
- Maintain accurate fleet, vehicle maintenance and tyre statistics, and analyse the data for decision‑making.
- Manage strategic fleet across the business, owning and updating the business fleet asset register.
- Evaluate performance and fuel consumption of new fleet on routes.
- Manage the internal warranty fund and the agents and subcontractor network.
- Assist business units in evaluating driver complaints, accident reporting and campaign results, determining ROI.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships that contribute to a culture of customer service excellence.
- Monitor maintenance per vehicle and provide insight on fleet that are not economical to repair, shaping the replacement strategy.
Qualifications
Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Transport / Fleet.Up to 8 years of experience in a similar environment, with at least 5 years of operational leadership or specialist experience.EEO Statement DP World is committed to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).
