Do you like working with your hands and seeing your innovations come to life This could be the perfect opportunity for you to earn as you learn! Becoming an Apprentice with the City of Newcastle (CN) will provide you with the opportunity to combine on-the-job learning with structured training.

City of Newcastle is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Building Trade Services Team as an Apprentice Metal Fabricator. This hands-on role will provide you with the skills experience and nationally recognised qualification of a Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade upon successful completion of your apprenticeship.

As a Metal Fabrication Apprentice you will work in conjunction with highly experienced Supervisors and Coordinators focusing on a variety of metal fabrication projects and acquirin g skills in the ability to maint ain and repair Councils assets .

This is a 4-year fixed-term contract based within our Assets and Facilities team where you will gain exposure to all elements of metal fabrication through on-the-job and technical training.

What is next

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process :

You will be required to attend 1 x group assessment centre for a 3-hour period between Tuesday 30th September - Thursday 2 nd October 2025.

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process after the assessment centre :

You will be required to complete a Pre-employment medical scheduled to take place on Tuesday 7 th - Tuesday 14 th October 2025.

Remuneration : $3 7 856 . 48 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment 12% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week
