Senior Accountant

Job Overview :

A reputable and growing accounting firm is seeking a highly competent and motivated Senior Accountant with a completed SAIPA qualification to join its team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of financial reporting, and the ability to oversee and mentor junior accounting staff.

This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple client portfolios, and confident in handling all aspects of monthly and annual financial processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling and reviewing financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations, and supporting the team with day-to-day accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities :

Compile, review, and finalize financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.

Oversee VAT and Income Tax calculations and submissions.

Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide guidance and mentorship.

Perform reconciliations and ensure accurate ledger maintenance.

Manage month-end and year-end close processes for client accounts.

Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and internal procedures.

Liaise with clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies where required.

Provide strategic input to improve financial processes and efficiencies.

Minimum Requirements :

B.Com Degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent).

SAIPA Articles completed (essential).

Proven post-articles experience in a senior accounting role.

Experience in compiling and reviewing financial statements.

Proficient in VAT and Income Tax regulations and submissions.

Solid understanding of accounting principles, tax legislation, and financial regulations.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to manage and develop junior team members.
