Quality Assurance inspector Application Engineering AA / EE - East Rand

Reporting to the Application Engineering Manager the Quality Assurance Inspector ensures that all company products meet internal quality specifications, customer requirements and applicable standards through inspection, verification and reporting. The role contributes directly to customer satisfaction by maintaining high-quality outputs and providing technical insight to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities -

Primary Functional Objectives -

  • Conduct quality inspections on company products and components according to defined standards, specifications and procedures.
  • Document and report inspection results, non-conformances and recommended corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Customer Experience teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Inspect engineered or procured components upon receipt to confirm compliance with drawings, tolerances and technical requirements.
  • Support customer audits and visits by providing inspection data and technical explanations.
  • Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working order, ensuring all measuring devices are calibrated and records kept.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality assurance.
  • Engage with suppliers / manufacturers to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with specifications; provide feedback where necessary.
  • Collect documentation, photographs and supporting evidence for reports and QCP documentation.
  • Compile dimensional inspection reports, Quality Control Process (QCP) documents and Certificates of Conformance (COC), including improvement plans for installation teams.
  • Support delivery of company products and services when required.
  • Conduct inspections with customer-appointed third-party inspectors and justify measurement methods and results.
  • Approve and sign project data pack documents in collaboration with the Application Engineer.
  • Perform QA inspections on the TBU line for assemblies and locally manufactured items.
  • Verify incoming project orders for compliance with purchase orders and project requirements.
  • Assist with packaging and execution of engineering projects in the workshop when necessary.

Communication -

  • Maintain continuous communication with Application Engineers, Workshop teams, and Field Technicians regarding project status, deliveries and quality issues.
  • Market Intelligence -

  • Contribute to market intelligence by maintaining and developing a professional network within the company community.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Application Engineering to identify and develop business opportunities.

  • Minimum requirements :

  • At least 3 years practical experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and understanding quality management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of measuring equipment and appropriate selection for specific applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to compile clear inspection reports and present findings.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and administrative ability.
  • Strong English communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently at all levels.
  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Vocational training or trade qualification.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation (OSHACT, Mine Health & Safety Act, Construction Regulations).
  • Strong computer literacy (Office 365).
  • Desirable

  • Strong supply chain relationships (upstream and downstream).
  • Experience with company product portfolios
  • Experience with ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of measurement principles and correct use of measuring tools.
  • Mental Demands -

  • Requires high levels of concentration; work volume varies daily.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to make decisions within delegated authority.
  • Frequent requirement to analyse and calculate data accurately.
  • Must respond efficiently to unpredictable, ad-hoc operational demands.
  • Physical Demands -

  • Frequent domestic and occasional cross-border travel within sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Time spent at a desk, in the workshop and on customer / supplier sites conducting inspections and collecting evidence.
  • Travel includes driving and occasional flights to remote locations.
  • Attendance of meetings for project feedback.
  • Occasional work outside normal hours.
  • Operation of in-house machinery for project execution.
  • Health & Safety / Exposure to Risk -

  • Regular exposure to controlled workshop and on-site risks.
  • Required to use PPE such as safety boots, overalls and ear protection.
  • Salary offer : R550K R700K TCTC
