Lead Structural Engineer

Introduction

We are seeking an accomplished Lead Structural Engineer to join a dynamic and internationally recognised design-driven engineering environment in Cape Town.This role will suit a senior professional with strong technical expertise in architectural projects — including hospitality, mixed-use, residential, cultural, and high-rise developments — who can lead teams and deliver world-class structural solutions.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a multidisciplinary structural engineering team, ensuring effective collaboration and technical excellence.Oversee all structural design stages — Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design, and IFC — for complex building projects.Review, validate, and guide structural analysis models, design calculations, and documentation to ensure technical accuracy.Develop innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient design solutions aligned with architectural vision and client expectations.Coordinate seamlessly with architecture, MEP, and façade disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.Manage authority approvals and ensure designs comply with ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, and Dubai Building Code standards.Drive value engineering, cost optimisation, and risk-management initiatives across multiple concurrent projects.Engage directly with clients and stakeholders, presenting structural concepts, methodologies, and progress updates.Maintain robust quality-assurance procedures and technical documentation for all project stages.Provide leadership and mentoring to develop the next generation of structural engineers.

Desired Experience & QualificationBachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• years of professional experience with proven delivery of architectural building projects (hospitality, cultural, residential, or mixed‑use).

Demonstrated leadership in technical direction, design coordination, and team management.Prior exposure to UAE or Middle Eastern projects with understanding of local authority codes and standards.Proficiency in ETABS, SAFE, SAP
