Development Technician
Role Overview :
We are looking for a hands-on Development Technician to contribute to the design, fabrication, and assembly of specialised components and prototype vehicles. This role involves a combination of technical skill, problem-solving, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure quality and efficiency in production.
What you will do :
- Produce custom components using steel and sheet metal
- Develop, maintain, and improve fixtures, tooling, and jigs
- Support the full build process of prototype vehicles
- Share knowledge with production staff by demonstrating correct jig and fixture usage
- Partner with design and engineering teams to optimise manufacturing methods
- Uphold high standards of safety and housekeeping in the workshop
- Be prepared to complete a practical assessment of technical ability
What you’ll need :
Matric or equivalent qualification (further technical training an advantage)Skilled in operating milling machines and lathesConfident in the use of measuring instruments and toolsProficiency in both MIG and TIG weldingAbility to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into practical buildsStrong communication and teamwork skillsAdded advantages :
Previous experience in aluminium weldingProblem-solving and fault analysis abilityExperience in automotive vehicle assemblyUnderstanding of automotive systems and componentsAbility to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
