An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Payroll Manager to join the Human Resources team based in Johannesburg.
Purpose of the Job
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing and directing the payroll function, ensuring alignment with policies and relevant legislation.
Experiential and Educational
- Tertiary qualification and / or relevant payroll-related qualification is essential.
- 10 years relevant experience, of which at least 5 must be in a managerial role.
- Advanced payroll tax knowledge and experience in monthly and bi-annual submissions, tax issues, and queries are essential.
- Solid financial acumen and knowledge of SAP accounting software.
- Employment equity knowledge and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Sage 300 People Payroll software and all its modules, including ESS, is essential.
- Must be a certified Sage 300 People Consultant.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly advanced Excel, are essential.
- In-depth working knowledge of relevant tax legislation, employment conditions, bargaining councils, and other relevant legislation.
- Experience in dealing with expats payroll.
- Excellent knowledge of PAYE, SDL, UIF, WCA, and RMA is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of payroll processing, procedures, and controls, including streamlining and automation of processes.Lead, motivate, and manage the payroll team.Regularly monitor and audit the integrity of payroll systems, rules, calculations, and legislation application.Conduct payroll reviews to ensure payment accuracy.Implement remuneration policies, philosophies, and practices.Research and benchmark remuneration best practices.Handle reporting, including statutory, HR, finance, budget, and payroll reports.Develop and review remuneration and employee benefits policies and procedures.Participate in and manage projects, surveys, and reporting.Provide guidance and support on all remuneration and benefits matters.Manage retirement funds, insured benefits, medical aid schemes, and general remuneration practices.Develop, implement, and maintain remuneration and benefits systems.Handle e-filing, submissions, and reconciliations.Manage payroll administration, reconciliations, and legislative returns.Assist with payroll-related queries, end-of-year processing, and reconciliation.Prepare adhoc reports and manage bursary processing.Prepare and submit annual reports to Paris and Stats SA.Handle salary increase and bonus schedules, leave and bonus provisions.Coordinate with auditors, including internal, external, Department of Labour, and bargaining councils.#J-18808-Ljbffr
