Job Title : Staff Accountant (Permanent Contractor Position)

Job type : 40 hours / week

Pay : R 30,000 / month

Start Date : Immediately

Please note that this position is classified as an independent contractor and does not include medical coverage, retirement benefits, or paid leave. As an independent contractor you will be responsible for withholding and filing your own taxes.

Summary

We are seeking a fully remote, staff accountant to join our expanding accounting team, where you’d be supporting a wide range of small businesses with their accounting and finance needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general bookkeeping tasks to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage customer invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
  • Responsible for vendor invoicing and payment processing.
  • Execute all components of the accounts payable functions.
  • Facilitate month-end close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with drafting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Administer payroll processing and related activities.
  • Serve as a liaison for tax-related matters and compliance.
  • Manage financial platform integrations for streamlined operations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 4 years experience
  • Access to a computer, webcam, reliable internet connection and a private, quiet space for video conference calls. We require a minimum Ookla speed test of 60 upload and 30 download.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • SAIPA or SAICA articles
  • Experience with Quickbooks
  • Advanced knowledge in G Suite, Excel
