The School of Chemistry is seeking a Professor in Analytical Chemistry who will play a key role in shaping the educational and research experience of our undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as play an active role in the school.The successful candidate will be :
Responsible for teaching Analytical and Environmental Chemistry at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels,Expected to actively lead and participate in research, supervise postgraduate students, and provide academic leadership within the school,Curriculum Development for Analytical and Environmental Chemistry courses offered in the school,Expected to undertake administrative duties, participate in Faculty and University committees,Engage in community outreach and social responsiveness projects.Minimum Requirements
A PhD in Analytical / Environmental Chemistry is mandatory with a research focus that includes the development of novel techniques and their application in air monitoring, biomonitoring and environmental assessment.Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in the field of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry.Applicants must demonstrate a sustained track record of scholarly publications in accredited journals, along with the successful supervision of postgraduate students.A proven ability to secure external funding and evidence of national and international research collaboration.Excellent communication and lecturing skills, coupled with a strong passion for teaching and research, are required.Recommendations and Desirable Skills
Candidates with a track record of scholarly publications in accredited journals, an h-index of 25 or higher from recognised data bases. A National Research Foundation (NRF) rating is considered an advantageStrong research areas and collaborations in the fields of analytical method development and applied environmental remediation.Recognition by local and international research entities, industry and governing bodies.Experience in engaging with and contributing to national regulatory bodies.Demonstrated experience in mentoring junior staff and maintaining a network of international academic collaborators is highly desirable.Closing Date : 14 November 2025
