Job Description
RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized, Poduction Team Leader within the baking business unit.The suitable candidate will be required to manage the operations of the production function so as to ensure products are manufactured correctly, cost effectively, on time and in full and in accordance with the quality standards, whilst maximizing plant efficiencies and adhering to systemic processes. Manage and control staff. Is accountable for the whole shift.This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Production Manager.This role is a Permanent role.Minimum Requirements
Education / Qualifications
Matric or equivalent NQF4Experience
3+ years manufacturing operator experience.2+ years perishable food manufacture and FMCG.Skills / Knowledge
Full understanding of FSMS and OHS ActBasic supervisory skillsDuties & Responsibilities
Shift start up
Check all machinery for cleanliness and ensure in good working orderPre-run critical points with maintenance staffReport right number of staff at the right time for the shift to Shift supervisorCommunicate production plan with the make up teamCheck production control sheets are completed correctlyConduct regular staff meetings with direct subordinatesReport maintenance issues to Shift SupervisorDuring shift
Follow up throughout the shift to ensure production plan is being followedSample finished product to check for quality, consistency, weight, volume and defects and take corrective action when requiredConduct temperature checks every 30 minutes throughout the baking processCheck hourly targets are adhered to.Ensure adherence to process standardsControl waste doughAssist Shift Supervisor with handover to next Shift Supervisor and maintenanceReport anomaly / issues to Shift Supervisor immediatelyFood Safety and Quality
Adhere to food safety guidelines as per company policies and procedures.Abide by all Good Manufacturing Practices requirements as set out by the employer.Ensure all work areas are cleaned and free from contaminantsEnsure the product produced is free from all contaminants by ensuring staff adhere to all GMP and food safety requirementsEnsure that product produced has met all quality parameters.General
Timeously report any maintenance related issues which will affect the operation in the bakeryComplete job cards for all maintenance work related to faulty equipment and machineryReport on problems, accidents or breakdowns to Shift SupervisorEnsure clean as you work policy is maintained and monitored at all timesUsing control documents provide handover and feedback on shift as well as root cause and preventative action plan with Shift SupervisorPeople Management
Be aware of staffing requirement per shift and per team.
