Our client, situated in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town in Muizenberg, is the local branch of an international food manufacturing facility. The company is one of the South African market-leaders in manufacturing therapeutic foods, while operating under extreme food safety conditions and standards.
The company’s Production Department is looking for a Raw Materials Assistant to join the team and work in the Receiving areas . The incumbent will be part of the Operations team and will report to the Raw Materials Coordinator.
Duties :
- Adhering to and maintaining food safety, health, quality and hygiene standards at all times
- Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures and the quality management system
- Mitigating food safety and health & safety risks in the factory
- Performing cleaning and sanitation procedures according to standard operating procedures
- Performing quality checks on all raw materials
- Issuing of raw materials and packing materials
- Assisting in performing stock control duties (receiving, palletising, re-palletising, delivering, counting, rotating, maintaining FIFO, maintaining stock records)
- Operating the pallet jack and hand-held jack
- Completing necessary paperwork (verification checklists, hygiene checklists, cleaning checklists, waste control checklists, stock sheets, requisition forms)
- Reporting deviations regarding production, manufacturing, equipment, food safety and health & safety
- Maintaining all housekeeping standards at all times
- Providing reasonable ad-hoc assistance in other departments, as and when needed
Requirements :
Matric qualificationKnowledge of and experience working in the Food Industry and Standards in South Africa (e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC)At least 5-10 years’ knowledge of and experience in production / manufacturingExperience working in an FMCG environmentExperience / training in Occupational Health and SafetyKnowledge of and experience with stock-take procedures (FIFO)Valid fork-lift licenceWilling and able to work shiftsGood verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsStrong administrative record-keeping and filing (manual / electronic)Punctual, results-oriented, adaptable and able to work in a team environmentTime management skills and the ability to work under pressureAble to maintain high standards, good work ethic and integrityThe company offers market-related remuneration and pension benefits, based on the successful applicant’s experience and qualifications.
