Job Title : Diesel Mechanic – Automotive Truck Industry

Location : Pretoria West

Department : Workshop / Maintenance

Reporting to : Workshop Manager / Fleet Manager

Position Type : Full-time

Salary : R35 – R45 CTC

Job Summary :

We are looking for a skilled and qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the automotive truck industry . The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of diesel trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. You must have strong technical knowledge, be safety-conscious, and capable of working independently as well as within a team.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform routine services and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Conduct engine overhauls, clutch replacements, brake repairs, and suspension work.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to troubleshoot issues.
  • Complete job cards and service reports accurately and timeously.
  • Inspect vehicles according to roadworthiness standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop.
  • Assist with emergency roadside repairs when required.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Grade 12 (Matric) – essential.
  • Red Seal Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic – essential.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience working on heavy-duty trucks (Mercedes, MAN, Scania, Volvo, etc.).
  • Proven experience in diagnostics, repairs, and servicing of commercial trucks.
  • Valid driver’s license – Code 14 advantageous.
  • Own tools – advantageous or as per company policy.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software and modern vehicle systems.
