- We’re on the lookout for a Fitter to perform maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimum plant availability.
As a Fitter you will be responsible for:
- Maintenance, overhaul and repair of machinery and equipment
- Fit, assemble, grind and shape metal parts and sub-assemblies to maintain production machines and other equipment
- Scope and plan work orders as required
- Complete works orders
- Adhere to all Engineering and Safety standards
- Perform fault finding on equipment and participate in RCA's
- Perform daily and weekly route and plant inspections; and report all defects
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping
What are we looking for?
- Matric plus full N2 Mechanical Engineering Certificate (All 4 full subjects completed)
- N3 Mechanical Engineering would be an advantage
- Recognised Fitter Trade Test Certificate
- Sappi Internal Artisan Development Program or Apprenticeship would be an advantage
- 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering/industrial environment
- Valid driver’s licence would be an advantage
- Rotable overhaul experience would be an advantage
- Roll Fitting experience would be an advantage
- SAP experience in a manufacturing industry would be an advantage
- Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities
- The ability to work under pressure while following all procedures and standards
- Must be able to perform standby duties, and at times required to work overtime at short notice
